“Unconventional” would be an understatement when describing the Mass - a far cry from what you would expect from traditional Latin liturgy., Bernstein challenges centuries-old conventions in this innovative and thought-provoking piece, exploring the conflict between old and new in a fast-changing society.

The South-East Asian premiere of this extravaganza will surprise and awe. From solemn hymns and soothing meditations to edgy symphonic dances, and with an exciting infusion of Broadway, blues, rock, jazz and pop idioms, Bernstein’s Mass is an eclectic blend of musical styles and genres. Celebrating Bernstein’s centenary, this work epitomises the way in which the composer of West Side Story deftly fuses diverse styles together.
